FOJL:

I do not know the full extent of the external marketing. Obviously Penn Athletics put up articles lauding coach McLaughlin's resume and accomplishments at Holy Family on their website. McLaughlin also brought in his own assistant coaches, and Penn Athletics has some blurbs about them as well. I don't know what other media the AD would use to market, though I'm sure there you could find things out there if you peruse carefully through the many glossy pamphlets and media guides that Penn publishes.

I do not know the extent to which women's basketball has an alumni network that stays active with the program. I'd guess that any alumni who wanted to voice an opinion were at least given a nominal ear, since alumni donations are obviously important. I do happen to know that the returning upperclassmen, particularly were given a large role in helping to choose the new coach. See my article from last year: http://thedp.com/node/59365 Of note is the last quote in the article, in which Fran Dunphy endorses McLaughlin. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Also of note is my column last year before McLaughlin is hired. I think Bilsky was able to hire someone who met all of his stated goals. I do wonder though how much relative weight is placed on winning versus academics, as the AD never really comments on that front besides saying that both are important.

Excellent post. Welcome

What is being done to market the new coach externally?

Have the WBB alums been engaged with new Coach?

And speaking of the toxic Coach Knapp.... ask about the sock
ration this season.. Inside tip.
